Kindle 2 Review!

kindle-2       If you have been a frustrated user of the Kindle, you will find Kindle 2 to be highly surprising. Kindle 2 is a highly refined version of the previous Kindle. You will not have to compromise with the jarring looks of the previous version of Kindle anymore. Kindle 2 indicates that a considerable amount of time has been spent in re-designing the device to a more approachable feel. You will not have to worry about accidental switching of previous and next page issue anymore which was a major draw back of the previous version of Kindle.

     The Kindle 2 comes with a very clean and ergonomic design. This will remind you of an iPhone but of little larger dimensions. The layout of the keyboard too has been refined for a more familiar feel. However the keys have been made small while the shape of the keys has been changed from rectangular to round buttons. The next and previous buttons are made less sensitive and this will save you from a lot of frustration. Moreover, it does not take up the entire side of Kindle 2 like it was in the previous version.

     In Kindle 2 you will no longer find the slider control this has been now replaced with a rocker button. You will be able to engage in easy navigation within the test. On one count this helps easy navigation within the text but this has however lost the user friendliness of the navigation within the menu. You will not be able to reach the lists as fast as you would like to. This can prove to be little cumbersome for a swift user. It will take some time until you get used to this feature. However, if you do not have any experience with any other eReaders or the previous version of Kindle, you might not find it to be a big problem.
Kindle 2 makes use of eInk technology for its display and the display resolution is 600×800 pixels. Kindle 2 sports a very clear display for easy reading. You will not have to strain your eyes to read the text even in a considerably brighter outdoor environment. It is certainly better than the previous version of the Kindle. Kindle 2 can handle 16 shades of gray scale while the previous version was limited to four shades. This allows a much sharper display. Another great option with Kindle 2 is zoom in and zoom out feature for the images.

     You will find the volume control on the upper right edge and on the same side you will find the USB port at the bottom. Kindle 2 uses powerful stereo speakers at the back of the device. You will also find a headphone jack for private listening option. Those who have used the Kindle 2 feel that this version is much faster than its predecessor. You can now experience swifter cursor movements and text display. Working with a sluggish eReader can be highly painful and with Kindle 2 you will not have to worry about such problems now. However, if you are used to your laptops, you may have to exercise a certain amount of patience while dealing with your Kindle 2. Kindle 2 is certainly a more user friendly device. However if you are used to the previous version of Kindle, you will find the smaller keyboard to be a bit difficult to handle.

     In terms of portability of the device, you will find Kindle 2 very friendly. This is a very light device it will not make your pocket sag as it is just 10.2 ounces. Moreover, this sleek device is 0.36 inches thick. One of the greatest disadvantages is that you will not be able to expand your memory with Kindle 2 as this does not have any SD card slot. However, the built in memory is generous, providing more than enough if you ask me.

     One of the most important features of a good eReader is the battery life and on this count Kindle 2 scores high with its long battery hours. Kindle 2 comes with free internet access which you can use for reference purposes as well as for checking emails.  Overall, the Kindle 2 scores a 5 out of 5 to see our Kindle product page;
